Share Your World – Weeks 45 & 46

Things have been a little busy around here so you’re gonna get a two-fer today. Thank you for stopping by for the latest edition of Cee’s Share Your World Challenge.

Last week’s questions:

What is your favorite color?

Reddish Orange. Anything on the warm side of the color wheel, actually. The cool colors do nothing for me.

color-wheelIn what do you find the simplest of joys?

Simple comforts bring me the most joy. A hot cup of tea sipped under a hand-made quilt on a cold day. A bubble bath in a claw footed tub. The first pot of potato soup of the season.

Would you prefer a reading nook or an art, craft, photography studio?

Studio for sure. A reading nook can always be carved out of any corner 🙂

What is at least one of your favorite quotes?

“Not my circus, not my monkeys.” No idea who said it, but it perfectly sums up my philosophy about crazy/disordered/lazy people and the drama they try to rope others into.

This week’s questions:

On a vacation what you would require in any place that you sleep?

A horizontal surface. Srsly. I’m like those dolls with the movable eyes – lay me down and my eyes close and I’m asleep. I would prefer an absence of bugs and vermin but would likely fall asleep anyway.

Music or silence while working?

For brain work, silence. For physical stuff, music, suited to the task – something rocking if it’s a hard job, something classical if the job requires fine motor control.

If you were to move and your home came fully furnished with everything you ever wanted, list at least three things from your old house you wish to retain?

Granny’s old chrome & Formica kitchen table

This color, very similar in shape

Granny’s old Army trunk bought new in 1942 –

Very much like this one.

And the two folding kitchen chairs I restored last Summer –

100_3295I don’t really have anything else that might be classified as “furniture…”

What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?

Anything that runs on diesel fuel. The smell nauseates me.

That’s all I have for today. We’ve been having some very cold weather and it’s kept me busy and tired all the time. I’ll have a Real Post up soon-ish. Probably.

Music on Friday

Goin’ Country today with a band I haven’t featured here but listen to quite often. Here’s the Zac Brown Band –

Love that fiddle solo!

While I wish the sentiment in the song was possible for me, the truth is that I’ll be running all day and well into the weekend. The Sweatshop Girls, Spokes-dog Sabu and I will be in Yachats for the craft faire. Leaving before the butt-crack of dawn tomorrow and I have a long list of things to get done before then.

Have a wonderful weekend, y’all!

Share Your World – Week 44

More insightful questions from Cee’s Share Your World challenge:

What is your most vivid memory of the kitchen in your childhood?

There were several kitchens in my childhood, but the first memory to pop up is of being in my Granny’s kitchen. I remember the layout still and now the cupboards had glass fronts that were covered with contact paper. I always thought it would be so much better if you could see through the glass, but what did I know?

As a child, who was your favorite relative?

I always loved to go to Granny’s house. We lived next door and Sis and I would go over there after school.

What did you like or not like about the first apartment you ever rented?

The first apartment I rented was in 1987 when I moved to Phoenix to go to school. Mom and Sis drove me and all my stuff down in a little pick-up. Walking in, it was musty and not all that clean. Thankfully I ended up with my own bedroom with attached bath so I never had to share with my nasty, dirty roommates. There were many parties, as there always are when young people gather with no parental supervision, but I quickly grew tired of it and spent many nights locked in my room, trying to ignore the festivities which usually ended with Kerri puking and passing out. Whatever.

What kind of TV commercial would you like to make? Describe it.

TV commercials are so stupid I can’t even think of something I’d like to do that would appear on TV.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last weekend The Sweatshop Girls and I attended our first craft faire in Roseburg, OR. It was moderately successful financially but the connections we made could prove to be invaluable. I hope for another good weekend, this time in Yachats, OR. If you’re in the area, drop by and say, “hey!”

Busy Start to November

Whew! What a busy weekend! Click on the link for details. Only five more to go before The Sweatshop Girls get a Holiday Break.

As you might have guessed by the lack of posts about it, I won’t have time to participate in NaNoWriMo this year. In fact, I still haven’t edited my entry from last year. Hanging head in shame…After vomiting my story out into the computer I put the book away and haven’t seriously looked at it over the past year. I do have plans to finish and send it out for review to anyone who is interested in reading it.

The thing is, I’ve come so far I feel like a different person. My relationship with the narc hardly seems real these days as I spend my time the way I want to spend it, with the people I want to spend it with, no conditions, restrictions or inquisitions to face afterwards and, well, I’m happy. Revisiting those dark days is depressing and makes me angry and I’ve been focused on The Happy to the exclusion of all else.

As I approach the two-year anniversary of my escape I am grateful to all of you for coming along on this journey and helping me stay on the straight and narrow towards what has become a very fulfilling and satisfying life. Thank you all!

Typical rants to continue as soon as I recover from the weekend…if there’s time before the next one 🙂
