The Myth of the Narcissist – Seeing Through the Illusion

Yup. This. Nevermore.

Let Me Reach with Kim Saeed

Free Woman

by ~Gina Fant-Saez~

You said the most beautiful things
and sounded evolved and sincere
With intentions unquestionably true
And ambitions insightfully clear

I used to bathe in your words
believed you hungry for change
and willing to finally work
for all the things that you craved

it was a beautiful dream
to see you free and alive
your heart soaring in love
your body floating with mine

But you said what I wanted to hear
in language all gilded in grace
carefully crafted to match
the beauty I saw in your face

Now I see you’re a beautiful shell
With hollowing darkness inside
And you’ve grown so used to the dark
That now you’re afraid of the light

Lacking the courage to face
Your mirror of careless mistakes
The years and money you’ve wasted
Destruction left in your wake

Now you’re sorry you’ve hurt me again
As your…

Warning Signs You’re Dating a Loser

Warning Signs You’re Dating a Loser

Here’s a very good explanation of how “normal” people can be manipulated by the disordered and what those manipulations look like. It’s not an instant thing – the abuse starts slowly, over time, and before you know it, well, you’re in very deep. Great post!

** September 27, 2003, but still very relevant in today’s world of Narcissism!

Loser

Introduction

Very few relationships start on terms other than sweetness and politeness. In the beginning, “the honeymoon” of the relationship, it’s difficult to determine what type of individual you are dating. Both you and the date are guarded, trying to obtain information about the other as much as possible without seeming like a police detective.

Romantic relationships can be wonderful with the right person. A relationship with the wrong individual however can lead to years of heartache, emotional/social damage, and even physical damage. A damaging adult partner can damage us, damage our loved ones, and even damage the way we feel about love and romance in the future. They can turn what is supposed to be a loving, supporting, and understanding relationship into the “fatal attraction” often described in movies. There…

Share Your World – Week 38

November is going to be impossible, so why not see if I can get back to some sort of regular posting before then.

Because it’s Wednesday, here’s another installment of Cee’s Share Your World challenge!

This week’s questions –

If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?

I would be a cactus – sitting in the sun all day, blooming only after a perfect storm, enough long spines to keep the assholes away.

If you could have a servant come to your house every day for one hour, what would you have them do?

Bathe the dog and clean the litter box 🙂

If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get?

Pork. Bacon, ham, chops. Love me some pig!

What was one of your first moneymaking jobs (other than babysitting or newspaper delivery)?

My first Real Job was as a painter in a hotel. It was a learning experience, to say the least. I discovered that no one wanted to hear what I really thought about shallow girls who “forgot” to wear a bra on the job and spent the entire day bragging about it to the only boy on the crew :-/

Busy Summer!

I know, I know! I’ve been…absent…for awhile now. Life has been busy and I’ve been distracted. No worries – it’s All Good, just busy.

Posted a short update over at Starting Over Designs for those of you interested in the Fiber Stuff.

In lieu of an update post, here are the Share Your World questions from weeks 35, 36, & 37. Where does the time go?

Week 35 –

Have your blogging goals changed?

I started this blog as a hidden diary to keep track of what was happening with an abusive partner. I felt like I was losing my mind because of all his gaslighting, lying and manipulations. The documentation and friends I found in the WP community enabled me to break free from him for good and I am so grateful for all of you for sticking with me and offering advice when I needed it most. Now I chronicle my New Improved Life and the tone is quite different. More to come 🙂

If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?

I would work with cats, the bigger the better. I love house cats and their large cousins and would do my best to ensure their fair treatment as they amazed audiences everywhere.

If you could go back and talk to yourself at age 18 what advice would you give yourself?  Or if you are younger than 25 what words of wisdom would you like to tell yourself at age 45?

I would tell myself that my thighs were NOT fat 🙂 Also, enjoy those boobs while you can – pregnancy is gonna take them from you soon.

What is your favorite comfort snack food?

I don’t really eat for comfort, but I guess ice cream. The more chocolat-y the better.

Week 36 –

Do you prefer reading coffee table books (picture), biographies, fiction, non-fiction, educational?

I’ve been reading a lot of dystopian fiction lately, most of it written by indie authors on my kindle. There are some incredible writers out there you’ve never heard of. I’ll try to remember to write a post strictly about them some time soon.

What is your biggest fear or phobia? (no photos please)

Not being able to breathe. I don’t like small spaces and the thought of being trapped in a coffin-like prison seriously creeps me out.

What is your favorite cheese?

Mozzarella. On pizza. Or quiche.

What is your favorite month of the year?

April because it marks the beginning of Spring here and it’s my birthday month.

And Week 37 –

List three pet peeves.

Idiots, assholes and perverts.

What makes you unique?

Most everything about me does not conform to society’s definition of “normal,” from the short hair to the bare feet, so I’m not sure what to answer for this one. I’ve always been different.

Would be your ideal birthday present, and why?

A day off from all responsibilities, a hot bath in a claw-foot tub with plenty of tea and chocolate and some really good books to read all day. I would bathe and read and nap and not let the world intrude for a full 24 hours. No reality allowed 🙂

Which way does the toilet paper roll go? Over or under?

My roll mounts sideways atop an old three-legged candle holder. It unrolls clockwise and the end is tucked into the top of the roll or gravity unwinds it onto the floor. Neither, I guess. See? Unique 🙂

And that’s all we have time for on this busy Friday! I will be out and about all weekend, maybe posting from the Studio, maybe too busy spinning and sewing to think about the blog, but either way I’ll be soaking up the last of the Summer heat and getting ready for Autumn.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Share Your World – Weeks 32, 33 and 34

It’s been a very busy couple of weeks Summer here and it doesn’t look like it will be slowing down any time soon. Today is slow at work I’m totally slacking off at work, so let’s get caught up with Cee and her Share Your World challenge.

Week 32 –

Do you prefer ketchup or mustard?

Ketchup all the way. You can have all the mustard because it’s gross. Except mustard seeds – they are great when toasted in mashed potatoes.

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

Dramady – some things have been funny and others have been pure drama. I refuse to be defined 🙂

If you could be given any gift what would it be?

The power of flight. That would be cool – I have places to go!

For potlucks or parties do you cook it yourself, buy from a grocery store, or pay for catering?

Cook it myself. Mostly. I don’t get out much…

Week 33 –

Do you believe in ghosts?

Absolutely!

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility:  If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?  Or if you can’t picture yourself playing sports, what is your favorite sport?

Hahahahahahahahaha! Sports? Is Dressage a sport?

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?

Short. Really Short. Short enough that lesbians hit on me. Sigh. Why should men get all the short hair ease of morning routines? It’s just not fair. Besides, my hair is not “good” hair and it makes me look old and sad when it’s long. Also, fuck all those guys who won’t date women who wear their hair to please themselves instead of giving in to pressure to fulfill a male fantasy.

If you were on an small island, who would you want to be with? And where is it?  How big is it?

I would be alone. Blissfully alone. Perhaps I would be a lighthouse keeper along some storm-tossed shore with a room full of books and a blazing fire. A boat would bring provisions every month or so.

Week 34 –

What is your favorite smell? What memory does it remind you of?

I love lavender, coconut and some musk scents. No particular memories, just feelings of contentment, peace and comfort.

Name a song or two which are included on the soundtrack to your life?

“So What” by Pink

“All About the Bass” by Meghan Trainor

“Alright” by Darius Rucker

Do you play video/computer game?  Which one(s) or most recent?

Haven’t played in years, but I liked Quake once upon a time.

Which of Snow White’s 7 dwarfs describes you best?  Plus what would the 8th dwarf’s name be? (Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey)

Happy, no doubt. The eighth dwarf would be called Bob.

That’s all we have time for today, but expect an update post that may or may not make sense tomorrow. Or Thursday. Or sometime soon. Or not. It all depends…
