Existential Crisis?

03 Jan

Every morning Revy and I have a routine. I take a shower. I open the door and grab a towel to dry off before getting out of the shower.* As soon as the door is open, Revy bounds in and sits between my legs, one paw on one of my feet. He sits there, very still, until I finish with the towel and step out. And then he does this:

dscn0498He sits and stares at the North facing wall of the shower. Sometimes for an hour. When he comes out, he’s wet from the shower floor, but very cheerful and wanting to be petted.

Is he getting orders from outer space? Communing with the water droplets? Hearing noises in the wall? I just don’t get it…

* Getting as dry as possible inside the shower stall is the best way to avoid wet spots on the floor later. As you can see, the bath mat is covered with catnip – not fun to brush off before putting on socks and since no one but me seems to think using the vacuum is a good idea, it just makes more work. The basket was intended for hanging storage, but Revy fell in love at first sight and now he’s busily tearing it apart, one little shred of willow at a time.

Maybe you should get revy a raincoat? With a terry exterior, so you can dry your feet off on him!

Maybe he’s taking an imaginary shower.

As a cat, that might be his idea of fun….

        Cats are weird, for sure.

Yeah, weird in a fascinating way, though. Never know what they’re thinking, unlike dogs who wear their every thought on their goofy faces.

Haha our beloved Simba bless his soul, he passed March 19 2012 at 16 years old, he would get in the shower and howl, he was a werewolf cat…

How funny! Revy howls, but never in the shower – inside the shower he is perfectly silent and still. It’s creepy.

    Maybe he like the steam?

Hahahahahaha! Steam! Nope. No steam. While the water is plenty hot, it doesn’t last long (9 minutes max.) and it dissipates very quickly right now – I keep Towanda cool at night so morning temps are rarely over 60* this time of year.

Oh, boy! You opened up a can of worms there, seeing as how Revy is a cat 🙂 Granted, he doesn’t act very cat-like, but on the outside he does appear to be feline…

I think your cat knows my cat. My male cat Notwen loves to get in the shower after I take a shower too. He watches the water drip down the walls. Very quietly. They seem to hypnotize him. 🙂

We also have a male cat who likes the post-shower warmth and dripping in the tub.

What is that all about? If you figure it out, let me know…

Come to think of it, our elderly female cat also used to like to climb into the tub after one of us finished a shower.

Maybe he’s plugged into the Cat Collective when he’s in there? OMG! We are all fucked for sure if it’s true!

I love that you sacrificed the basket to Revy’s clearly more important need of the item.

Snort! Like I had a choice! I purchased a wire drawer-thingy to us instead and so far he’s happy with my choice :-/

Too funny, the little shape behind the door–maybe he Is contemplating the drops; maybe we should, too…My old cat always climbed into the tub to lick the drops and just sit there; then she took to sleeping, there, too when it was dry. You know, he may move on to another fixation…

I wouldn’t mind it if he slept in there. Sure would be better than peeing, like he does now…
