Whirlwind

10 Oct

There’s a lot going on around here and my mind feels like a tornado every waking moment, which unfortunately is the majority of the time as Lil’ Shithead has been moving up Wake Up time for the past week. It was three days of up at 0530, followed by one day at 0500 and this AM he decided that he needed to get me up at 0230. Yup. That’s 2:30 AM!!! WTF he was thinking, I just don’t know.

I’ve decided that he’s just not a cat at all; he’s a yappy, spoiled dog in a cat suit. He cries like a little dog; he insists that he will do what he wants like a little dog; he wants to go OUT at all hours of the night, nevermind that he’s never been out; he constantly re-arranges everything on every flat surface. Gaaaahhhhhh!!!

Now, I have had kittens before. Quite a few, in fact, but I have never had one be quite so difficult and active. If he sleeps, it’s only because his batteries are suddenly depleted and he just falls over and passes out for an hour or so. Then he’s right back up and raging for hours.

That’s not what I intended to blog about, but he’s inciting the dog to riot at this very moment and I’m getting ready to put him in his crate out on the patio to see how he likes that! If he wakes me up again in the wee hours, you can bet he’ll be getting his wish of being outside!

I got the word at knitting last night that the knit shop owner’s offer was accepted on the 1910 Craftsman house down the street and she will be moving shop. The really fabulous news is that there are four rooms upstairs that she will be renting out as studio space and I managed to procure one for myself!

This means that I will finally have a Room of My Own where I can set up my sewing machines and cutting table and work on the projects that have been on hold for years! I will be able to start the projects that have been percolating in my brain without anyone criticizing my materials, color choices, sloppiness, speed or anything else! I will finally be able to open the totes and air out the smell of the narc’s house from my fabric stash.

I can’t tell you how happy this makes me! The rooms have great lighting (they were used for offices so they have nice, bright lighting) and each room has one or two windows and a walk-in closet. The basement will be used for washing fleece and dyeing and having classes while the main floor will house the yarn shop proper.

Sigh. It’s all coming together. Now I better get moving on updating my patterns and website. And do some laundry…

Anyone participating in NaNoWriMo this year?

Well, Awana just loves him, so it won’t be easy to make him “run away” or take him out “to the farm” πŸ™‚ We’ll get it figured out or I will lose my mind. It could go either way at this point…

LOL! By Christmas he’ll be a Real Cat (or dog – who knows?) sitting Over There, staring disdainfully around between long naps and demands for food. He did let me sleep until 0600 this morning, so I love him again πŸ™‚

Ah, yes! I haven’t really forgotten, just haven’t had material for a good rant, but I thought of something today, so I’ll write it up while I should be working and send it to you πŸ™‚

The Boss hasn’t caught me at it yet. Don’t know what I’ll do about NaNoWriMo – I have to be finished by the 28th because of other obligations…

I’m sure my boss knows, but since he spends all his time on Facebook he really can’t say anything.

My Boss is a very hard-working man. I doubt he knows what FB is. I would be shocked to learn that he surfs the web. He’s always on the phone or in meetings with clients or on his way somewhere else for meetings. The man doesn’t know how to stop. Luckily he has a wonderful wife who understands and takes care of Everything Else (willingly and happily, I might add) so The Boss can do what he loves. They are a perfect match and I hate them. Not really. But, damn, they are happy and that sucks just a little bit…

Ohmygod, I signed up for NaNoWriMo. I have no idea what the heck I was thinking. Granted, singing up isn’t actually doing anything, so I may just talk myself out of this yet.

Of course you’ll do it. Really. There’s no doubt in my mind. You have plenty to say. Get your outline in order before the end of the month and then just Do It. It feels so good to finish. It’s worth every minute. I’m Sofia Leo on the forum – look me up and we can be Writing Buddies πŸ™‚

I looked you up! I’d like to finish, and I think I’m just stubborn enough. We’ll see. Good luck to you! This is going to be an adventure.

It’s a wonderful adventure. A true test of character and will to complete an almost impossible project in too little time. You’re gonna love it!

Oh good, I’m glad it’s only “almost impossible” because it feels pretty impossible. πŸ™‚

I did it back in 2005, while working full time, dealing with a nightmare teenager and the narc in full-blown rage most of the time. It was hard. It was also very rewarding πŸ™‚

This is one time I do feel not having the kids with me will be a benefit. Except for figuring out what to write (ha!), I don’t think I’ll have a problem getting an average of 2000 words a day down, especially if this truly is a “first draft”. I have the time, I just need to use it.

I’m sure the subject will appear. Probably at the end of Week Two when you’ve already been writing about something that you don’t really love like a madwoman and hating every word πŸ™‚

Hooray for the work space! That’s very exciting. πŸ˜€
I’ll be NaNoing this year. Just figured out what story I’m going to write about too. Should be good.

Yea you! Congrats on the space! The cat will settle in time, they grow up and get lazy. πŸ™‚
I’m doing NaNo again this year. New stuff.

I hope he settles down soon. Mom is coming for a visit next weekend and I hope both beasties behave like they have brains this time…

I’ll be starting my Story over, this time uncensored because I’m writing the truth, not what I think the narc wants to hear. Should be interesting.

Your life just keeps getting better and better, hooray for the space to do your crafts, hopefully the cat will mellow out soon enough, he’s still a hyper baby. About the Boss & Wife….you’ve finally come out of so much harm to you, it’s going to take some time to really feel at ease and have all the bad shit behind you. Don’t worry about it, if it is meant to be maybe a NICE guy will come in your life again…if not don’t worry about it. At this moment you are getting to do what your heart desires and that’s all that matters now. Leave the past in the past though it has no room in your future.

I’m not a bit worried about finding a man. I work in an office filled with functional people in great relationships and I must admit to being a bit jealous – they’ve had years and years of happiness together that I missed out on. If only I’d made some different choices…But the past is the past and I am moving on. Full speed ahead!

Your post made me smile. I used to stay over at a friend’s of mine for a while and her cat insisted on plonking her belly on my face every morning – at 5am! Let me tell you. A good sleep is not what I got. And having words with the cat did not work either. We had to have paragraphs.
Congratulations on getting your own room. πŸ™‚

I bet your friend slept better, though πŸ™‚ Poor Awana suffers when she stays over because the animals are so thrilled to have a new body to torture that I sleep very well πŸ™‚
