Staying’s worse than leaving

I was knitting with my friends on Wednesday night at the Sweet Shop and one of them asked me where I live. Without missing a beat I said, “I left an abusive relationship a couple of weeks ago. I bought myself a travel trailer and now live in a park right down the street from Awana.”

She looked me in the eye and said, “You rock!”

And I do! I was able to just say right out loud that I left my abuser, and you know what? It didn’t hurt. I didn’t blush. I felt proud that I stood on my own two feet and walked away from the man who was determined to kill my soul.

Oh, sure, there’s bound to be some fallout eventually, but I feel strong enough now to handle any bullshit he might try to fling at me. Bring it on, asshole! I’m ready for you now, your mask is transparent to me and I will no longer lay down and let you wipe your feet on my heart.
